The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit or Ruach HaKodesh (רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ) in Hebrew. It is described in the Bible (1 Corinthians 2:11) as God The Fathers literal "Spirit" or "Divine Breathe",  a unique manifestation of His power extended from himself and sent into the world to execute His will.

To understand the mechanics of the Holy Spirit, we look at three "Bible Facts":

1. It is the Divine Breath (Ruwach/Pneuma): In the original Hebrew and Greek, the word for "Spirit" literally means "Breath" or "Wind." Just as a man's breath carries his voice and life so the Holy Spirit is the "Breath" of the Father. It is His own "inner life" in action (1 Corinthians 2:11).

2. The Spirit is a unique manifestation of The Fathers Personal Presence: Being God The Fathers literal "Spirit" or "Divine Breathe", an extension of God himself. The Holy Spirit carries The Fathers mind and emotions—meaning it can 'know' thoughts and be 'grieved.' However, it does not have an independent autonomy (It cannot act outside of The Fathers Will). The Bible states the Spirit 'will not speak on his own' (John 16:13). It is literally a manifestation of the Father’s Power or "Breathe" carrying his mind & will extended to us.

3. It is the "Another Helper" (Allos): Jesus described the Spirit as "another helper" of the exact same kind as himself. While Jesus was the physical, localized representation of His Father, the Holy Spirit is The Father's manifested and wide-spread "Divine Breathe"—allowing Him to be connected with every Disciple at once.

The BBD Bottom Line: The Holy Spirit is the Father's uniquely manifested Power which acts as a Support System and Helper for believers. It provides the power, the intelligence, and the direction needed to support the vulnerable and teach accurate Bible lessons.

-Scripture Reference-

Romans 8:11- And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you.

1 Corinthians 2:11- "For who knows a person's thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God"

N.B - In the Bible, the Spirit is never worshipped as a separate entity from the Father. There are no prayers directed to the Spirit in the Bible, The Spirit does not possess a name, nor is the Spirit given a seat on a throne alongside the Father and the Son in the visions of Revelation 5:3. The Holy Spirit Is God The Fathers "Divine Breathe"  extending from Himself to support and help those who believe.

-Counter Questions-

"Some believe that the spirit is a separate person from God The Father. Why does the Bible say 'He' or describe the Spirit as 'speaking' if it is not a separate person?"

In the Bible, personification is used to show that the Spirit is not a cold, mechanical energy like electricity, it is a unique manifestation of The Fathers Power. It is described in personal terms because of what the Spirit is and what the Spirit does. It is the Personal Presence of the Father, His "Breathe" sent to support believers in his Son. Just as the Bible personifies 'Wisdom' or 'Love,' it personifies the 'Breath' to show its personal function and that when the Spirit moves or acts, it is like the Father Himself, who is thinking, feeling, and acting in our lives."

Hebrew "Hypostasis" (Personification of Attributes)

The writers of the Bible frequently personified God's characteristics to show them in action.

- Example — Wisdom: In Proverbs 8, "Wisdom" is described as a woman who cries out in the streets, was present at creation, and has a voice.

- The Bible Logic: No one believes "Wisdom" is a separate woman sitting on a throne next to God. It is a personification of God’s own intelligence.

- The Spirit: In the same way, the Ruach HaKodesh is personified to showcase the personal function of "teaching, guiding and helping being performed by The Father’s unique "Breathe".

The "BBD" Distinction:

Traditional Interpretation: "It is personified because it is a separate person."

BBD  Interpretation: "It is personified because it is The Fathers literal "Spirit"  and a unique manifestation of His Power that carries His personality and mind into the world and to all who believe."

-Holy Spirit Scriptures & Insight-

1. The Comparison to a Man’s Spirit

1 Corinthians 2:11 "For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God."

BBD Insight: This is the "Anchor Verse." It explicitly states that the Spirit is to God what a human spirit is to a human—the internal, inseparable seat of consciousness.

2. The Omnipresence of the Father

Psalm 139:7 "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?"

BBD Insight: This Hebrew parallel links "Spirit" and "Presence" as identical terms. To be in the Spirit’s reach is to be in the Father’s reach.

3. The Spirit as the Father’s "Voice"

Matthew 10:20 "For it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you."

BBD Insight: Note the ownership. It isn't "The Spirit, a separate person," but "The Spirit of your Father." It is His personal agency in action.

4. The Creator’s Breath

Job 33:4 "The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life."

BBD Insight: Here, "Spirit of God" and "Breath of the Almighty" are used interchangeably to describe the Father’s creative power.

5. The Finger of God

Luke 11:20 (Compared with Matthew 12:28) "But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you."

BBD Insight: In the parallel account in Matthew, Jesus says he drives them out by the "Spirit of God." This proves the Spirit is the "Finger" (the tool/extension) of the Father.

6. The Source of the "Flow"

John 15:26 "When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me."

BBD Insight: The Spirit is described as "going out from" (ekporeuetai) the Father. It emanates from Him like light from a sun or breath from a mouth.

7. The Father’s Seal

Ephesians 4:30 "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."

BBD Insight: The Spirit is identified as "of God." It is the Father’s personal "signature" or "seal" placed upon the disciple.

8. The Life-Giving Power

Romans 8:11 "And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you."

BBD Insight: The text repeats that it is the "Spirit of Him" (the Father). The power to resurrect belongs to the Father, executed through His Spirit.

9. The Transformation into His Image

2 Corinthians 3:18 "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

BBD Insight: This identifies the "Lord" (the Father) and the "Spirit" as one functional reality. The transformation comes directly from the Source via His Active Force.
